Graphical Menu Blocks

Starting with Server version 15.5. StayLinked offers limited support of Graphical Menus that show selections as highlighted or in reverse video. These stylized graphical menus cause a repaint of menu sections as the cursor is moved up or down to change the active selection.

The Graphical Menu Block is very similar to a Copy Block but is rendered in a graphical style with Background Color, Text Color, Border Color and Text Alignment attributes. The most important attribute is the ‘Selected Menu Item Style’, which describes how the StayLinked Server will know which of the menu items is the selected item. The selected item will appear on the Graphical Menu Block using a complementary Background Color. The currently supported selected menu item styles are ‘Reverse Video’, ’Text Color’ and ‘Cursor Row’.

This is an example of what the host might show for the menu style, where the entire selection is 'highlighted' as you move up and down and then use enter or space to select your entry.

You can add a Graphical Menu Block to your Designer Screen using the same rubber-banding around the original host screen menu/text as you do for a traditional Reformatting Copy Block. When you release the mouse button, you will see a new dialog that will ask if you want to create a Reformatting Copy Block or create a Graphical Menu Block. Click ‘No’ to create the Graphical Menu Block.
