Clients are available for various device operating systems including; Android, iOS, Windows CE, Pocket PC, Windows Mobile, Linux, DOS and Windows desktop-based family of devices. A Java-base client is also available for use on Linux\/Unix and any other platform that can support a Java runtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>StayLinked clients have local configuration options. These\noptions are primarily related to the display of screen information but does not\ninclude emulation settings that are controlled by the StayLinked server.\nStayLinked clients cannot provide terminal emulation access without connecting\nto a StayLinked Server.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This guide describes the options found in a typical StayLinked client, as well as the SmartTE options available in this client version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Starting the StayLinked Client<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Launch StayLinked via the Start Menu or desktop icon: StayLinked can also be started by navigating to the installation directory (typically found in the Program Files\\Stay-Linked directory) and running the \u2018staylinked.exe\u2019 program directly. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The StayLinked Client application displays the StayLinked splash screen on startup. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"360\" height=\"483\" src=\"https:\/\/portal.staylinked.com\/sl\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ClientUserGuide_1.1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1717\" srcset=\"https:\/\/portal.staylinked.com\/sl\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ClientUserGuide_1.1.jpg 360w, https:\/\/portal.staylinked.com\/sl\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ClientUserGuide_1.1-224x300.jpg 224w, https:\/\/portal.staylinked.com\/sl\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ClientUserGuide_1.1-37x50.jpg 37w, https:\/\/portal.staylinked.com\/sl\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ClientUserGuide_1.1-45x60.jpg 45w, https:\/\/portal.staylinked.com\/sl\/kb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/ClientUserGuide_1.1-75x100.jpg 75w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 360px) 100vw, 360px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Device Type:<\/strong> This value is used by StayLinked to identify the type\nof hardware for selection of keyboard maps, client settings, device groups, and\nsoftware deployment. The default value can be configured to a new type using\nthe Administrator\u2019s \u2018client settings\u2019 feature, or by manually adding a line to\nthe staylink.ini file that specifies device_name=xxxxxxxx.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Client Version: <\/strong>These numbers represent the client major version, minor version, service release and (build). This guide represents the features included in all client software packages of this version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Closing the client<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Using File &gt; Exit will prompt for a password if the client is set to \u2018application lockdown\u2019 of hide or show. The default password is esp. this will not end a client-server session.
