<\/figure>\n\n\n\nSession Partnerships – Add <\/strong>\u2013 Select this menu option in order to\nadd a session partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Session Partnerships – Edit<\/strong> \u2013 Select this menu option in order to\nmodify the attributes of the selected partnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Session Partnerships – Delete <\/strong>\u2013 Select this menu option in order to\nremove the selected partnership from the list. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Description<\/strong> \u2013 Enter a meaningful description of the session\npartnership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Partnership Enabled<\/strong> \u2013 Check this box to make the partnership active.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Partnership Optional<\/strong> \u2013 Check this box to make the partnership optional.\nWhen selected, the device joining an existing session started by the partner\nwill be prompted to join the session or not. If this option is not selected,\nthe device will join an existing partner session immediately and automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Partner One\/Two UID<\/strong> \u2013 Enter the 12-digit StayLinked Unique ID (UID)\nof one of the partner devices. A partner UID can only appear as a partner once\nin the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Partner One\/Two Allow Printing<\/strong> \u2013 Only one of the partner devices is\nallowed to process client printing instructions from the telnet session. Select\nthis option to have the partner respond to printing instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Partner One\/Two Allow Host API<\/strong> \u2013 Only one of the partner devices is\nallowed to process Host API instructions from the telnet session. Select this\noption to have the partner respond to Host API instructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Running Partner Sessions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Following is an example of the\noperation of a Session Partnership between a Vehicle-Mount Unit (VMU) on a\nforklift and a Hand-Held Terminal. In this case, the partnership was created\nwith the \u2018Optional\u2019 selection and the VMU was selected to \u2018Allow Printing\u2019 and\nalso to \u2018Allow Host APIs\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The warehouse user grabs the\nhand-held terminal that is partnered with his VMU and heads to the forklift.\nOnce at the forklift, the VMU is powered on and a StayLinked Session is\ncreated. The user logs onto the host and is presented with the application\n\u2018Picking Menu\u2019. Now, the user grabs the hand-held terminal and powers it up.\nThe hand-held creates a StayLinked Session. The StayLinked Server recognizes\nthe session partnership and determines that a session is already started for\none of the partners. Since the partnership is optional, the hand-held terminal\ndisplays a message allowing the user to either \u2018Join\u2019 or \u2018Skip\u2019 the partner\nsession. In this case, the user selects to join the partner session and the\ncurrent session screen is displayed immediately. Now, the user holsters the\nhand-held terminal and, using the VMU, determines the first picking location.\nUpon driving to the location, the user retrieves the item from an upper rack\nand scans the location with the VMU tethered long-range scanner. The system\nshows the user the next item to pick, which turns out to be a small item just\none rack over and at knee height. So, the user exits the forklift, walks over\nto the next rack and locates the item. The user grabs the hand-held terminal\nfrom the holster and scans the location tag into the current partnered session\nscreen. The user can see on the hand-held screen that the third item to pick is\none shelf up, so he grabs that item and scans the location from the rack using\nthe hand-held. Since item four is on the next aisle, the user holsters the\nhand-held and returns to the forklift with items two and three. Now the user\ncan drive to the next aisle and continue picking the order, using the tethered\nscanner or the partnered hand-held terminal as desired.
