During the use of StayLinked, it is sometimes necessary to provide extra or alternative licensing for testing, migration, backup, and other circumstances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Backup or High Availability Installations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Customers on current support are eligible to receive temporary licensing for their backup environments. Backup licensing expires with support contracts and is automatically renewed during the support renewal process. Customers looking to obtain a permanent license for a backup installation can contact their StayLinked reseller for pricing. More information on High-Availability installations can be found in our High Availability Guide<\/strong><\/a> on this site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transfer License Adjustments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Moving permanent licenses from one server to another requires a License Transfer Agreement to be completed by an authorized company representative. Temporary licensing may be issued as part of a license transfer in order to facilitate the migration while the transfer agreement is in process. Instructions on how to export your current configuration settings and import them to the new server, are available in the Server Migration Technical<\/strong> <\/a>Reference article in this knowledge base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transfer of licensing\nfrom one machine to another is covered as part of the standard support\nagreement. Licensing not under support is subject to a transfer fee or support\nrenewal before new licensing can be issued. Customers out of support, opting\nfor the license transfer fee are not eligible to upgrade software versions and\ndo not gain access to product downloads. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reserve Licenses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Through downsizing, application changes, or for various other reasons, customers may find that they no longer utilize all of the StayLinked licensing that they own. StayLinked customers have the option during their support renewal to reduce their supported licensing to better match their usage requirements. This process is called \u2018reserve licensing\u2019. Unused seats are transferred to a reserve status through the process of a license transfer.
