In some cases, the server process installer may show that the product is already installed. The message may say that the server upgrade should be used because there's already a server process installed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first step is to make sure there isn't a StayLinked folder already on the machine. For Windows systems, this is typically under Program Files, but may also sometimes be found under Program Files (x86). It's critical that you do not run the full installation over top of an existing installation. Doing so will erase all configuration from the existing installation directory.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Be sure there are no StayLinked services running on the target system. You can also use a netstat to confirm if UDP port 3006 is open, which is typically the server process if it's currently running.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The installer checks the following objects for existing installations on a Windows system:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first check is for registry keys under:
HKLM\\SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Uninstall
It's looking for any entries that include \"StayLinked Server for Windows\" or \"Stay-Linked Server for Windows\".<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second the installer will check the install folder \"C:\\Program Files\\Stay-Linked\" or the current target location specified in the installer to see if it has any files\/folders in it. The install will be blocked if the selected location exists or contains objects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
