TEKTERM for Android (SmartTEK) Feature Configuration

There are multiple configuration settings for SmartTEK. Each feature should be reviewed for relevance in your emulation environment.

Keyboard Maps

TEKTERM for Android (SmartTEK) connections utilizing TESS keyboard Maps support a wide range of mnemonics that are specific to TESS and are not available in other keyboard maps. Keyboard maps are installed through the StayLinked Administrator under Emulation Settings > Keyboard Maps > right click and select Add, or by double clicking the session in the Connections list while the session is presenting the eSP0003 error message and selecting the Add Keyboard Map in the Connection Details window.

Mnemonic Options

TEKTERM for Android (SmartTEK) Features allow for Mnemonic features custom to the TESS emulation process. Each button on the toolbar may be configured to perform one of the following actions:

Function Key Customization

TEKTERM for Android (SmartTEK) features allow for customization of the function keys F1 to F39 on the server. Function keys start the transmission of data. There are a few preset function keys, these can be modified.

Directional Mnemonics

TEKTERM for Android (SmartTEK) features allow for [up], [down], [right], and [left]. The TESS Emulation process has multiple edit modes that use these directional cursor movements. Please see specific mode directional below:

Field ModeIn field mode, the [right] and [left] arrow keys do not perform any functions. Pressing the [up] or [down] arrow key completes the entry field and then, moves the cursor to the previous or next field.
Fcursor ModeIn fcursor mode, the [up], [down], [left] and [right] arrow keys move the cursor between fields.
Insert ModeIn insert mode, the [right] and [left] arrow keys move the cursor right and left within a field. The [up] and [down] arrow keys complete the entry field and move the cursor to the previous or next field.
Replace ModeIn replace mode, the [right] and [left] arrow keys move the cursor to the right and left within a field. The [up] and [down] arrow keys complete the entry field and move the cursor to the previous or next field.

[del] Mnemonic

If the [del] key is used to clear data in a field that has been pre-filled by the host application, the field is flagged as modified and the updated information is sent to the host in the next response message.

[sess] Mnemonic

Gets you to a prompt to start a new telnet session.

[disabled] Mnemonic

Currently ignores the keystroke.

[host] Mnemonic

Mapped to the Standard ctrl+h TekTerm function – Displays the select host dialog if local procedure 80 has been sent by the controller.

[abort] Mnemonic

Mapped to the standard ctrl+c TekTerm function – Hitting this key 3 times within two seconds initiated the TekTerm user reset sequence.

[toggle_status] Mnemonic

Allows for [toggle status] of ctrl+s as a toggle key sequence. Pressing the key sequence displays the status message on the screen. Pressing the sequence, a second time hides the status message.
